As one of the original 12 characters introduced in the first Super Smash Bros. game, Pikachu has since become a staple in the franchise, making numerous appearances in subsequent titles.

Super Smash Bros. Melee

Absolute Beginner Guide to Smash Bros Melee

In Super Smash Bros. Melee, Pikachu is once again the game's starting character. Skull Bash is a special attack that Pikachu may use to fling across the screen and headbut its foes. Other than this, Pikachu's moveset has been tweaked somewhat from its original Super Smash Bros. look, and its range has been reduced.
Instead of coming down from the top of the screen, Pikachu's Thunder now comes from a cloud. Pikachu's back throw from the previous game is now its forward throw, although much weakened, and its down smash is now a multi-hitting, electrical spin. Quick Attack from Pikachu now has a hit box, and Thunder Jolt can now pass through solid objects.
Origins of Pikachu You may also take control of Pichu, who shares many of Pikachu's abilities with the player. In addition, Pikachu may don Red's cap from the first Pokémon Red and Blue games as one of his various outfits.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Opening theme

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Pikachu was one of the first playable characters to be unveiled. Like in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Pikachu may be used right away and comes equipped with the same special moves.
Pikachu's visual appearance hasn't changed much from Super Smash Bros. Melee, except for some minor touches and the elimination of the Generation I chubby design.
It has been tweaked somewhat, with its knockback reduced and new advanced techniques added, such as canceling the end lag of Quick Attack utilizing a soft platform to approach better and two chain grabs.
To top it all off, Pikachu can now unleash the Final Smash Volt Tackle, which transforms it into a big ball of electricity that the player can direct to crash into and/or shock opponents for damage.
Pikachu keeps most of its different outfits, but its blue getup—a party hat—has been swapped out for a pair of goggles as Pichu sometimes wears. Pikachu wears a variety of hats, some of which are based on those worn by Red in Pokémon Red and Blue.

Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary

Something About Smash Bros THE SUBSPACE EMISSARY - 2.76M Sub Special (Loud Sound/Flashing Lights)🌌

Pikachu makes its initial appearance in Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary in the level The Research Facility, where it is imprisoned in a peculiar apparatus that uses its electrical energy to run the facility.
Suit of Zero Seeing that the gadget hurts Pikachu, Samus, who has infiltrated the facility in pursuit of her Power Suit, decides to destroy it. They are then confronted by many R.O.B. Sentries. Pikachu is so grateful to Samus for saving him that he offers to accompany her while she searches the lab for the Power Suit.
The two eventually locate Samus's Power Suit in a holding tank. After defeating two of Samus' doppelgangers, Samus and Pikachu are ambushed by Ridley, who proceeds to drag Samus across the walls. Pikachu then pays back Ridley for helping him earlier by using a devastating Thunder strike on him, freeing Samus in the process.
Pikachu and Samus manage to get out of the facility and make their way to the Subspace Bomb Factory, where they meet the Ancient Minister. Soon after, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Captain Falcon, and Captain Olimar arrive; however, the Ancient Minister does not retaliate, instead attempting to dissuade the other R.O.B.s from following Ganondorf's orders.
Since Ganondorf has the R.O.B.s set up multiple Subspace Bombs, the Ancient Minister, now in charge of the R.O.B.s, assists Pikachu and the others in defeating the Subspace Army and escaping the island in the Falcon Flyer before it is consumed by Subspace.
Pikachu and its teammates beat Meta Ridley and join the surviving heroes in a last fightagainst Subspace, but they are ultimately destroyed by Tabuu. Thankfully, King Dedede foresaw this problem and instituted badges that prevented defeated warriors from becoming prizes.
With them, he may put together a trio of himself, Luigi, and Ness. Before everyone had returned to confront Tabuu, Dedede and his friends revived the majority of the Pokémon, including Pikachu.

Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo 3DS And Wii U

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Nintendo Wii Trailer - E3 Trailer

With no changes to its moveset from prior appearances, Pikachu returns as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. Pikachu's Thunder attack still conjures a cloud, but it now also functions as a meteor smash, doing additional damage to foes.
The headgear of male trainers Ethan and Calem from Pokémon Gold Version and Silver Version and Pokémon X and Y are two of its new alternative outfits in Super Smash Bros.
Damage outputs on various Pikachu attacks were lowered, and its devastating down throw and forward throw chain grabs (key to Pikachu's success in Brawl) were taken away.
Changes to hitstun cancellation (the ability to cancel hitstun (particularly while in tumble) early with an airdodge or an aerial attack) favor Pikachu by making it simpler for its strikes to chain together, enhancing its combo game.
The range of several of its assaults has increased, and their knockout power has been enhanced. However, Pikachu has little stamina, thus it is easily launched, and it lacks consistent methods of knockout.
Even though Pikachu's competitive player base was very limited, the character did find some success in the Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U meta-game.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

08: Pikachu – Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Pikachu is once again a selectable character. Pikachu has been given two new outfits in addition to its modified moveset; in one, it may transform into the feminine Pikachu Libre, while in the other, it can don Selene's headgear from Pokémon Sun and Moon.
Pikachu's attacks have been tweaked in numerous ways, and it now often looks furious while using them. If Pikachu doesn't collide with another opponent during its Final Smash, it will self-destruct. However, the move travels across the screen at a much quicker pace than previously.
A new neutral aerial for Pikachu, akin to Mewtwo's, is one of several improvements and upgrades. Pikachu's regular attack, its dash attack (called Running Headbutt), its down smash (called Electric Flower), its back aerial (called Glider), and its down aerial (called Electric Skew) all have names.
